The colors of the season

Welcome to the The Blog Hop Party with Give Aways.  I think this is such a fun time of year to have a blog hop with great things to win.  I love Christmas.  I wait all year long for it.  I start listening to Christmas music the end of October (really September, but some of you might think that is odd).  So, my question to you is, how does color influence you during this season?

Do you prefer trees with all white lights (or a single color like red, blue, or green) or trees with multicolored lights?

When you start thinking about a seasonal quilt do you choose brighter fabrics...

Or more traditional.

I love both, I decorate two trees and pretty much everything in between...

For my give away I have two Connecting Threads Essential Thread kits to give away.

One is a neutral kit, the other is a vintage kit.  I think it is always so nice to be able to just sit down and start sewing rather than having to run to purchase thread.  I will ship internationally so don't let that stop you from commenting.  There are two ways to enter...

1.  Leave a comment telling me whether you prefer traditional or brights and which thread kit you would like, neutral or vintage.
2.  Become a follower of my blog and leave another comment.  (If you are already a follower just leave an additional comment stating that).

Please make sure I am able to contact you via email if you are the winner.  Remember, the blog hop is open  from midnight tonight until December 17, but you can start commenting here now.  Make sure you go here to see what other fun things there are to win!  Happy Stitching!!  --Kristen

I prefer a tree with multicolored lights, and use ones that have the multi-display options-usually set to slow-fade of individual colors. Anal? you bet. I would have to go with the neutral threads :) heartsease54 cnd2821@blackfoot.net

We have one tree with clear globes and decorated traditional and the other has colored lights and decorated gold and purple! total contrast. Either thread kit would get used here :o) Thank you for the chance.

I am more traditional in my decorating, not as much into the snow themed Christmas things as we are in the middle of summer! I would love a chance to win the vintage threads. Wendy xx

I like all styles of Christmas decorating, but if I had to pick just one, it would be traditional, with home made ornaments. I like the vintage threads.

Love the look of the vintage threads. I like to go with a modern theme, with pinks, purples, blues, lighter greens and silver rather than the heavier looking reds, greens, and golds.

Fran said...

I'm a traditional as far as Christmas decorating goes, & particulary treasure the homeamde ornaments my daughter made when she was much younger. With the threads, I'm more of a neutral fan. Thanks for a lovely giveaway.

I am a new follower! I like both and have both in my home, the smaller tree is usually just red lights but I have been influenced by fabric colours this year so I will have multicoloured lights and red, apple green and turquoise decorations on it - the big tree will be more traditional! I think with what I have in the works the neutral thread would be more of use to me - Thanks for the giveaway!

I love the brights and would love to win the vintage thread set...

Our tree is very eclectic atm - I used to collect red/gold decorations before I had children, now that I have a 3 & 5 year old we have an increasing collection of homemade & photo decorations and I've also "inherited" a lot of decorations from my aunt and my mum when they downsized to smaller trees.

I think I will need to sit down after Christmas and have a bit or a sort through and organise the decorations.. there are a few that I think I can probably cull now that I have quite the collection! I do love home made decorations though - there's something super special about the sentiment they invoke when you hang them.

Our lights are plain white, but have pretty swirly star shaped plastic lanterny covers that look really gorgeous.

I like bright colors, and I think too for christmas stuff, but then again I sometimes go more traditional for christmas quilts. the last two christmas quilts I made were a table runner that was a modern pattern but a traditional fabric, another large lap quilt was more of a traditional pattern but with new more modern fabrics..... and for my tree, well we have TWO, the large one(both fake- GASP!) has white lights and the kids decorated that with their decorations, the smaller one was prelit with colored lights, which I don't prefer, but oh well, and then I just used gold and red ornaments on it.... so... as you can see I go both ways. for most quilts I love BRIGHTS.... the threads, hmm I would use these for piecing I think, maybe machine applique too, so the brighter one is more functional I guess, but for piecing the neutral is great....if I win, you PICK!
