The colors of the season

Welcome to the The Blog Hop Party with Give Aways.  I think this is such a fun time of year to have a blog hop with great things to win.  I love Christmas.  I wait all year long for it.  I start listening to Christmas music the end of October (really September, but some of you might think that is odd).  So, my question to you is, how does color influence you during this season?

Do you prefer trees with all white lights (or a single color like red, blue, or green) or trees with multicolored lights?

When you start thinking about a seasonal quilt do you choose brighter fabrics...

Or more traditional.

I love both, I decorate two trees and pretty much everything in between...

For my give away I have two Connecting Threads Essential Thread kits to give away.

One is a neutral kit, the other is a vintage kit.  I think it is always so nice to be able to just sit down and start sewing rather than having to run to purchase thread.  I will ship internationally so don't let that stop you from commenting.  There are two ways to enter...

1.  Leave a comment telling me whether you prefer traditional or brights and which thread kit you would like, neutral or vintage.
2.  Become a follower of my blog and leave another comment.  (If you are already a follower just leave an additional comment stating that).

Please make sure I am able to contact you via email if you are the winner.  Remember, the blog hop is open  from midnight tonight until December 17, but you can start commenting here now.  Make sure you go here to see what other fun things there are to win!  Happy Stitching!!  --Kristen

I love bright fabrics. Its funny I am drawn to neutrals but feel the most inspired by brights.

The thread I use the most of is neutrals.

Merry Christmas to you and your family.

I love both the traditional and the brights, can't pick one or the other. I love that crazy color, the wilder the better, but love the classic traditional as well. I would go with the neutrals threads, I use the neutrals on everything.

Yes, I believe our seasons of the year are associated with specific colors. White would be for snow; fall colors would be your reds, oranges, yellows and brown; Chrismas would be red, green and white. I love red for the holidays. So bold and pretty. My tree is white, white lights and lots of red ornaments and red flowers. Your gift is very thoughtful and useful. I would choose the neutral kit becaause this would blend with any chosen fabric. I wish you a Merry Christmas.

Having to choose one I would say traditional. But probably give brights a chance. If I won I would love to add the vintage package to my collection.

I like traditional and brights mixed together. I actually dislike the all single color Christmas trees and the ones with themes...nothing against them, but I like our tree with multicolored lights and all our special motley collection of ornaments. I would love the vintage thread. Thanks for the giveaway!

For Christmas - I think traditional - it get's the point across - no one has to think about what you are "saying" with your fabric.
And - neutrals in the thread.
What does that mean? Does it mean I am stuck in a box?
O h w e l l lll
There is safety in the box, but some day I may try to step one foot out and see what it feels like.

Traditional and vintage is calling my name! You are so sweet to think of everything needed to have some thread fun, thank-you so much!

Colour is so subjective and I can lean either way. I find it is helpful to have defined boundaries however and work in a colour framework in order to keep focused!

enbartlett said...

I think I prefer brights over traditional and I like both thread sets but would probably pick the vintage one. Thanks!

I'm very opinionated when it comes to Christmas decorations, definitely only white lights, though I'm happy to go with traditional or clean modern decor - as long as it's not gaudy. I lived in Germany for a year and their decorations were spot on for me - it felt like the perfect place to enjoy the holidays.
I'm completely torn between the neutrals and the vintage, they're both great.

jeifner said...

I like the brights for quilts but the neutral thread. I also like the white lights for Christmas.

jeifner said...

I am also a follower and Merry Christmas!

I am a traditionalist when it comes to Christmas, and I love the white lights, so elegant looking, quiet and serene. I would so love the neutral colors.

Sandy H said...

I love any color scheme for Christmas--although looking around my house I guess I lean a little towards traditional. Lots of red and green, although I bought some decorations this year that are lime green and fuschia, with some turquoise thrown in! I would love either thread collection but would probably use the neutrals more frequently. Thanks for the opportunity!

I am more of a traditional colour person but I have of late been daring and bought a few brights to make a few quilts for little ones...the neutral colours look like they would blend in well with what I usually do...

Good Question. We used to do everything traditional with a green tree, lots of silver, red, gold to go with it. One year we were on vacation staying in a condo. It had lots of room for the two of us, but we were having company. So we bought a narrow but tall white tree with white lights. We decorated it in white and silver. Now that is my favorite.

I would love the traditional colored threads.
