Welcome 2020

It's a new year, a new decade, and time for me to set some new goals.  I hate new years resolutions, because no matter how hard I try, they always seem to go by the wayside.  This time I am just going to say, I'm setting some goals for myself.  Four months ago today I said goodbye to caffeine, and that was a great thing to do...not to say there aren't days when I REALLY wish I would give in, I haven't yet, and I'm hoping now that I put that out there I don't fall back into my old habits.

In the past I've made goals and tried to set expectations for myself here, and I have failed miserably.  But, I am going to try again, and we will see where we get this year.  2019 was difficult with aging parents who have been ill, our son starting college, and a new job with more hours working which means less time for the things I love.  I probably just need to reevaluate priorities again.

I had a few days off this past week and I did finish something (it's a miracle!)

This is On The Bright Side.  The pattern was in American Patchwork and Quilting magazine in February 2018 (I know)...The 3" finished stars were time consuming, but they weren't what was most difficult for me.  All the seams are pressed open, and for some reason (probably my carpal tunnel) it was difficult for me to do.  I ended up taking breaks that were longer than I wanted, but in the end it was worth it, and I totally get why they were pressed open.  I used Moda Ombre Confetti fabric by V and CO and I'm happy I did.  Now all I need to do is figure out how I am going to quilt this thing, it is huge (96-1/2" square), and not worry about how long it takes me to finish (hopefully not 2 years).  On the bright side, I have a finished top.  ;)

I hope this new year is a happy one, filled with love, laughter, and finished projects for all of us!  Happy Stitching!!  --Kristen

I recognized this quilt top right away since I have the magazine. I liked it immediately. You have done a wonderful job on it. Sometimes it takes me much longer 2 years to complete a project. You are doing very well!

I love this pattern, too, but passed it by as having too many fiddly bits. Maybe I'll rethink it, yours is so pretty.
