Beat The Winter Blues Blog Hop And A Giveaway!!!
You know, I can't say I really have the winter blues because we haven't seen much winter here this year...that is until this past week. We received 11 inches of snow between Monday and Tuesday and it is so pretty and white everywhere it kind of makes it hard to have the winter "blues." To top it all off my son has his annual school ski day today so we will be spending the entire day out in all that winter whiteness. It is supposed to be warm, although some of you may not think that 30 degrees F is very toasty. I'm packing a bag today with some of my favorite things to do when I'm not helping the kids find the right ski boots, skis, get everything on correctly, or helping them stay standing during ski school.
I usually pack my "to go" bag with a few too many projects. Today I am going to try and finish these embroidered hexagons so I can get this quilt finished. The blocks are all put together and just waiting for these embroidered middles. I'm even making sure I have enough extra floss to complete them, and there will be some paper hexagons and my glue pen in my bag just in case they are needed.
I've got 15 fat quarters of Lynette Anderson's Hollyhock Cottage to help you beat those winter blues and start thinking about a visit to a spring/summer cottage. All you have to do to enter is leave a comment telling me if you would ski today with the kids or if you would pack a "to go bag" to sit inside and stitch while you waited (it's warm in there). You can have a second chance to win by leaving another comment letting me know you are a follower. This drawing will take place on Thursday, March 14 at 5 p.m. CST so you have plenty of time to enter and I will ship anywhere. Happy Stitching!! --Kristen

If it were really cold, I would sit inside the lodge while the kids skied. I would get some projects completed while I waited and inbetween I would drink hot cocoa and eat warm wheat bread with honeybutter. :-)
I am a follower now.
I would sit in side I haven't skied in over 40 yrs
I follow in GFC
I would definitely sew!
I am a new follower--and I love your embroidery pattern!
Did ski, bad knee! So that means I would sit inside and stitch!
That is a hard question, I would play in the snow just a little (who does not like a good snowball fight?) but then I'd like to stich inside with a warm cup of chocolate. P.S. the FQs look yummy
I think I figured out how to be follower ;)
I don't do ski (we don't have snow here :) But thanks so much for the great giveaway!
Even though I've never ski'd, I'd take this opportunity to ski with the kids and learn, Beautiful Fabrics, Thank You!
A to-go bag! I was never allowed to ski.. due to possibly injury during skating season. I would stay inside, with a warm cup of hot cocoa. Wish I could have those days sometimes...
I am already a follower
Visiting from Sew Many Ways link up. I would ski and then some. But if it was too cold and icky weather - leave them to ski while I drink mulled wine and stitch!!!
Ski, I would like to but I live in the Netherlands, we have no mountains, it is just flat.....and I think only a quarter inch of snow today. So my choice is obvious....quilting and bloghopping for me today. But I love to do so!
I love your nice blue fabrics, my all time favorite color, would be lovely in my blue-white quilt I am working on at the moment. Thanks for the change to win them
And I became a follower too
I have never had the opportunity to ski but I would love to give it a try. I do follow you.
Cath @ Bits 'n Bobs
I've never skiied so I would take my stitching but I'd have a go on the slopes first!
I used to ski when I was a teenager and I loved it though I was not very good. I could only snow plough and not do any other fancy manoeuvers or however you spell that! Generous giveaway - thanks for the chance!
New follower :) I would ski I think but pack the crafts too in case I needed to go indoors for a hot chocolate (any excuse to go sew)!!
While I like the idea of skiing I think I would rather not risk body parts and stitch!
I have taken ONE ski lesson - in the middle of a blizzard in Colorado - was not pretty. I would definitely be stitching inside. Thanks for this wonderful giveaway. Judy C in NC

I miss skiing...just me and the mountain and the quiet of nature. What a wonderful giveaway!
I don´t have kids, but if I had, I still would sit inside with my sewing. I hate snow. We have too much of it here in Sweden!

I skied for the first time when my son wanted to join the hi school ski team. I was 40! Later that year I became an assistant coach (that's another story!) and helped with the team long after my son graduated. So I would definitely ski!
I would stay inside stitching. Thank you for the chance to win.

Hi Kristen! I would be indoors to sew, of course, unless it is so nice to be outside and sew, I would do that too! Of, me and skis are not friends, I'm too uncoordinated!
Take care, Leslie
Hello from new follower #487! Thank you for the chance to win those yummy blue fabrics.
Sincerely,
Tricia
Personally I would use the time to stitch as I love hand work. Usually in front of the fire and Hot Chocolate even though I'm from Michigan. Thank You for the chance to to win that wonderful collection of Blues. They would be prefect for my FWS project.
Sincerely,
Tricia

I used to ski but since I blew my knee I'd be inside stitching!
Barb@Witsend
I would ski in a second! No need to think about that one. Our kids are 4 and 6, so we're about ready to get them on the slopes!

I would definitely stay inside and work on a project. I am not a cold weather person. Where I live 30 degrees is feeling like a heat wave right now LOL.

Lovely Giveaway. I Follow On Goggle.
Wow! What a great giveaway! I would definitely stay inside. Between my bad knees and absolutely no ski experience, it is a no brainer!
My body doesn't do well in the cold anymore, so I'd definitely be sitting next to you with my ziplock bag of embroidery projects! What a wonderful generous giveaway! Thanks for the chance to win.
The only skiing this family does is at the lake. If for some crazy reason I traveled to see snow, I would definitely be inside watching from a nice big bay window. I love the blues in your giveaway collection. Would love to get my hands on them. Thanks!
Just signed up to follow you - I've got to see how those hexies turn out!
I would be out there skiing. I haven't been for a couple of years now, so I'd be playing it safe on the runs!
I'm a long time follower!
I think I would need to bring a go-to bag and sit in the lodge stitching away...otherwise, I would probably need another kind of stitches and crutches! Thanks for the giveaway. I'm a new GFC follower (but I wish you had a way for me to follow by email).
I have never been skiing before so I would have no idea what you would need to take with you!
Lol....I would definitely pack a To-Go Bag!! Would sit in the Lodge by the fireplace, drinking Hot Chocolate....and stitchin' away!!!
I've been a Follower for awhile now, thru GFC
Thanks for grrrrreat Give-Away! :)
I'd prefer to stitch, but the reality would be that I'd be looking after kids who discover that they don't much like skiing either, or who fall and can't go out again, or who don't feel well, or.... I'm sure you get the picture. Thanks for the very generous giveaway opportunity.
I'm not a skier... tried it but it's just not my thing. So I would stitch while I wait. :) Thanks for a chance to win this beautiful fabric! :)
I'm already a follower via gfc! :)
I would definitely take a to go bag and be inside where it was nice and warm. I've been anticipating trying some hexagons to take along. Love the giveaway!
I'm a new follower. Thanks so much for the chance to win!
Ski, mmm no I am not very good at that though I may try again one day. I would probably enjoy stitching more though :)
Haven't skied in a few years I seem to be recovering from surgery every winter this year it was spinal surgeries. So I would have to stay in & sew!
haha I would definitely be outside sledding - my old knees couldn't take skiing anymore, though my hubby & kiddos love it still.
If I were able to ski that is what I would do , just being out in the scenic white ski hills would be wonderful . Thanks for the chance to win this fantastic giveaway .
I am a follower , thanks again.
I would sew. I tried skiing, but I didn't like it. Thanks for the chance to win.
that blue fabric is beautiful!!
I would definately pack a "to go bag" to sit inside and stitch while I waited.

I would definitely be a sit and stitch in the lodge helper! I know my limitations...and pain tolerance!!!
I am a new follower but I've been here often for Sew We Quilt blog hops!
Well, I am in "delicate condition" so I would have to pack a bag to do and stay inside. I tried skiing once as a kid, but I might give it another try someday. Thank you for a lovely giveaway!

You have a new follower. 3bakergirlsgo@gmail.com
I would be sitting inside stitchin and sippin:)
Well, I don't know how to ski (other than having done some Nordic skiing when I was a teenager), so I guess I would have to stay in and stitch! I'd really like to do both though, maybe ski a little and then when I've fallen down enough and gotten wet and cold, come in and stitch by the fire. Thank you for the wonderful giveaway. :)
Oh I would be inside stitching. I absolutely love the blue fat quarters, what a lovely giveaway.
I would not be skiing, I would need to sew.
I just found your sight today from the Sew Many Ways link. I will be a follower now because I want to see how you do your hexagon quilt you are making. How did you make your print? It's amazing!!
No skiing for me. I broke my back/pelvic bones in a car accident years ago and am lucky to not have any problems as a result of it. So I don't push my luck. Give me that needle and I'd help you with those stitches. I hope you post a pic of the finished blocks.
If I knew how to ski I would be skiing - having said that, considering it was over 38C (100F) here today I think I would just lie in the snow and cool down. Normally whenever we go camping I have projects with me for the quiet moments.

when I was young I would be right there with you helping the kids, but now the cold is to much and I would be the one to break a leg so for me it is the warm fire inside the lodge with a nice cup of tea. Would love to see more on your project, looks so interesting..
What a gorgeous, generous prize! I have hardly any blue in my stash, so would love to work with these. Thanks for the chance to win. If I were in better shape, I would enjoy skiing for maybe a couple of hours, or until lunch time, and then head inside to the warmth and stitch. :)
I am a long time follower. :) Thanks again. xo

Kristen - Thanks for letting us drop in. I'd rather break thread than a leg, so you'd find me in the lodge by a sunny window, doing embroidery or applique. My idea of relaxing! I've been a follower of yours for a while, now. Come over to Prairie Cottage Corner and see what's going on. I have some posts about applique and embroidery that might be fun for you to see.
I'm already a follower! :)
I don't ski so I'd definitely stay inside where it's warm! ;) Thanks for the great giveaway! Have a Happy Day! :)
great and generous giveaway.
I would stay in and stitch. If I were to try and ski I would probably break my neck!
Lovely lovely prize! I think I would ski if I wouldn't break anything
I'd be happy to watch the kids skiing from inside the lodge:) Take care!
I'd definitely pack a stitching bag and stay warm. Thanks for participating in the Quilters' Blog Hop Party.
I'm following.
I would freeze my behind while stitching in the lodge! :-)
Despite being from Canada, I'm a HORRIBLE skier. Like, break-my-neck-in-multiple-spots skier. And my parents had me in lessons for years, I just could never catch on, lol.
Now I live in Chicago, and I love that there's no mountains surrounding me to pressure me into skiing, lol!!
So, I'd be sitting inside hahaha
I would probably have to try skiing a bit, but then head inside before I hurt myself. I'm too accident prone to stay out all day, but I do like a good bit of fun! :)
Also, just signed up to be a follower. Looking forward to checking out your blog in more detail. Thanks for the chance to win!
I would pack a to go bag and stich inside! Thanks for this Great Giveaway! Your Fabrics are Beautiful!

As we don't ski in South Africa I would definitely be packing a go-to bag that I could take with me in the caravan when we go camping.
I am your newest follower! Love your blog.
